It had been the norm for the carriage of school children, on behalf of the County Council's Travel and Transport Services, to be undertaken by licensed hackney carriage and private hire drivers using licensed vehicles as well as County Council approved drivers using their own cars. This practice was stopped over two years ago and now any person undertaking this task has to be licensed by the District Council in which they reside, and so will their vehicle.
