Following the Government announcement of a General Election, preparations are being made by the Council’s Electoral Services Team to deliver an election for the North Norfolk Parliamentary Constituency, and part of the Broadland and Fakenham Parliamentary Constituency on Thursday 4 July 2024.

Notification has also been received that Cllr. Garry Bull, ward member for North Walsham East, will be resigning from the District Council for health reasons, allowing a by-election to be held for his District Council seat on the same day as the General Election.

Cllr. Garry Bull, ward member for North Walsham East said:

“I have taken the difficult decision to stand down at the General Election, following ill health. While I’m disappointed to be standing down, I’m very grateful to have had the opportunity to represent residents in North Walsham.

Representing residents as a Councillor has been a fantastic privilege and experience.”

The Council’s Chief Executive, Steve Blatch, thanked Cllr. Bull and wished him well. The Elections Team will now begin proceedings to advertise the notice of election for a district council by-election for the North Walsham East Ward, to run concurrently with the General Election.

Notices of Election will published on Tuesday 4 June and Statements of Nominated Persons, for the prospective parliamentary candidates for North Norfolk and Broadland and Fakenham constituencies, will be published on Friday 7 June.

North Norfolk District Council residents in the Lancaster North, Lancaster South, The Raynhams, Stibbard and Walsingham wards vote in the Broadland and Fakenham Parliamentary Constituency area at the General Election along with large parts of the adjoining Broadland District Council area.

To be eligible to vote in the upcoming election, you must register by Tuesday 18 June 2024.
