Local creative businesses, venue representatives and independent artists attended North Norfolk District Council’s successful first ‘Cultural Partnership Workshop,’ to discuss sector specific support and engagement.

The group shared their thoughts and ideas on questions such as what the role of the partnership would be, who would feed in and how, and what practical structure needs to be put in place to help sustainably support this in the longer term.

Following the event, NNDC will feedback to partners with a summary of the suggestions and notes and a next date for everyone to come together again.

It is hoped that a newly created Cultural Partnership will be responsible for taking forward some of the great suggestions and actions discussed.

Cllr Liz Withington, Portfolio Holder for Community, Leisure and Outreach, commented: “Following our engagement with local arts and culture organisations and individual artists, it became clear that a dedicated partnership was needed to bring everyone together and strengthen this vital part of our local tourism economy.

It was fantastic to see such strong engagement at the Sheringham Little Theatre event and a real enthusiasm for building a collaborative arts and cultural network in North Norfolk.”

The network can be extended far across the sector and throughout the district to make sure it is representative of all the different areas of culture, tourism, heritage, and the arts.
