Apply for a business rates discretionary reduction

The Council has the discretionary power to reduce the payment of your business rate bill by granting a discretionary reduction.

The primary purpose of awarding a discretionary reduction is to provide short-term assistance to businesses suffering unexpected hardship from circumstances beyond the business’s control and outside of the normal risks associated with running a business of that type.

50% of this relief is paid by the government and 50% by local taxpayers from council tax. Therefore, we must satisfy ourselves that granting a reduction is in the interests of local Council Tax payers.

How to apply

To apply, please complete the application form. Only complete applications or applications submitted with the required evidence will be accepted.
