Environmental regulations
Find out more about the habitat regulations in relation to nutrient neutrality and recreational impacts, including guidance on Regulation 77 applications and temporary holiday sites.
When submitting certain types of planning applications, including those creating new overnight accommodation, consideration will need to be given to environmental regulations including those set out within the Habitats Regulations.
Two common issues affecting North Norfolk that fall within the remit of these regulations are nutrient neutrality and recreational impacts.
Nutrient neutrality
Visit our nutrient neutrality page for further information on what it is and how to address it.
Recreational impacts
Visit our habitat mitigation: recreational impacts for further information on what it is and how to address it.
Permitted development
Certain types of permitted development may require assessment under the Habitats Regulations by making a Regulation 77 application.
Temporary holiday sites
Temporary holiday sites, including caravan and camping sites, are also affected by the Habitats Regulations through recreational impacts and, in certain parts of North Norfolk, by nutrient neutrality.
View our guidance on temporary holiday sites, including caravan and camping sites, for more information, including an advice note that covers nutrient neutrality and recreational impacts.
GIRAMS subscription model
For temporary holiday sites and recreational impacts, see the following guidance notes about a subscription model designed to reduce the cost of mitigating recreational impacts.
