Investing in sustainable practices to reduce carbon and operational costs and add value to the holiday experience.
Woodland Park near Trimingham is a peaceful and scenic retreat in the heart of north Norfolk’s countryside, located close to the coastal village of Trimingham and within easy reach of some of Norfolk’s best beaches and natural beauty spots.
The park is set in a beautifully green and wooded area, providing a perfect escape for those wanting to experience nature, relax, and enjoy outdoor activities. With easy access to an area of coastline known for its unspoiled beaches, dramatic cliffs, and diverse wildlife, the location is perfect for those who particularly enjoy walking, birdwatching, and cycling.
Woodland Park is committed to making sustainability a key factor in its investment decisions. It is recognised that not only is this good business sense, but that creating a business that embraces and works with nature, is increasingly a key determinant for many of those looking to invest in a home on the site.
The Park is taking part in the David Bellamy ‘Blooming Marvellous Pledge for Nature’ under the heading ‘Home Sweet Home’. This is part of a commitment to giving local wildlife a helping hand, and a range of new houses have been set for them around the park. These will be a mixture of bird and bat boxes. The nestbox bat boxes are fully weather-proof, made from 100% recycled materials, and tailored to the four different bat species in Norfolk.
In keeping with its woodland setting, the business has heavily invested in new trees. In 2021, the business planted over 1000 new trees, including, hawthorn, blackthorn, hazel, flied maple, guelder rose, plum, crab apple, and dogwood. This mix of native trees will attract all sorts of wildlife to the park as well as provide a stunning show of colours in all seasons. This is complemented by a nature trail and a Jubilee Memorial Garden.
The business is fully committed to reducing its carbon footprint and, following a grant from NNDC’s Rural Business Grant, the business installed a new pool cover in October 2024. This will save the business £13,000 per annum in heating oil and has also decreased humidity and condensation.
The latest project we’ve put in place is our pool cover to help conserve our heating oil use. The pool cover cost is £13,000 and 50% of that we’ve managed to secure from North Norfolk District Council. We’ve reduced our bill by 30%. To have access to that funding made it viable. North Norfolk District Council were really helpful in guiding us.Joe Harrison,
