The Local Land and Property Gazetteer (LLPG) is the central corporate database for all addresses used in an authority.

Every council is responsible for maintaining a list of addresses and creating property numbers and road names for new developments and property conversions. This information is held in a master database called the Local Land and Property Gazetteer (LLPG). We maintain the official address database for North Norfolk.

Visit Local Land Searches and Address Management for more information about our street naming and number services.

Information included

Every street has a unique street reference number (USRN), and each address has a unique property reference number (UPRN) and spatial reference, or grid coordinate, which allows it to be located on a map.

It allows additional information about a property to be linked to an address, including:

  • property type, such as residential, commercial or land
  • property state, such as under construction, built, occupied, unoccupied or demolished
  • ward information for all properties and business names for commercial properties

Information on the address can change throughout a property's life. This may be due to:

  • a change of name
  • a sub-division or creation of an address within a building
  • changes of use such as from single occupancy to multiple occupancy
  • demolition of the property

All of these address changes are recorded in the LLPG.

National Address Gazetteer

The National Address Gazetteer (NAG) is updated daily to reflect all the changes made to our Local Land and Property Gazetteer. Every day, this is sent to GeoPlace to make sure the National Dataset is always accurate. GeoPlace are a limited liability partnership owned equally by the Local Government Association (LGA) and Ordnance Survey (OS). GeoPlace are responsible for putting together, managing and maintaining the primary UK authoritative geospatial address and street data. They work with local authorities to improve address data, making sure that the data is high quality, complete, and accurate. This produces a single source for all addressing and street data.

This address database is used by emergency services and other government agencies to help deliver efficient goods or services which you or your property need.
